“Tracing Outlines,” is a film by Cayce Mell, granddaughter of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Rockwell Raphael, and produced by Scott Sullivan.
The documentary traces all the remaining people who attended the Outlines gallery--so many have passed away. Artists like Phillip Pearlstein, Saul Lieter, and more touch on the gallery. There is also expert and historical reflection from renowned names in modern art like Guggenheim director Richard Armstrong, Eric Shiner (director of The Warhol Museum), Dan Byers, and more.
The film tells Betty's story and places her art gallery square in the center of art history's known timeline, potentially changing it forever.
